Bandipora, Kashmir, June 21: Yoga is increasingly becoming an important part of daily life for security personnel deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, helping them manage stress, sleep disturbances and mental fatigue while serving in demanding operational environments.
Personnel from different security forces stationed across the Valley said regular yoga sessions have helped them maintain physical fitness, improve concentration and cope with the pressures associated with prolonged deployment and operational duties.
From breathing exercises to meditation and physical postures, troops have incorporated yoga into their daily routine to maintain mental balance and remain focused during duty.
Security personnel deployed along borders and engaged in counter-insurgency operations often spend extended periods away from their families while working under challenging conditions that require continuous vigilance and quick decision-making.
Speaking on the sidelines of International Yoga Day events, a CRPF personnel said yoga had become an essential part of daily life, helping personnel remain mentally and emotionally fit while improving focus and reducing stress.
Another CRPF personnel said that long periods away from family and demanding operational conditions often create mental strain, adding that yoga helps improve sleep, maintain calmness and support decision-making during difficult situations.
Officials and personnel said the practice has become particularly relevant in Jammu and Kashmir, where troops frequently operate in situations that demand constant alertness and immediate response during patrols, operations and emergency situations.
Security forces across Jammu and Kashmir observed International Yoga Day on Sunday by participating in yoga sessions organised at various locations. Personnel said the practice continues to play a role in supporting mental well-being, improving concentration and maintaining operational preparedness among troops deployed in the region.
