Srinagar, Kashmir, July 9: Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Sulaiman Chaudhary, on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Downtown Srinagar to review traffic management and assess the implementation of ongoing measures aimed at improving vehicular movement.

He was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, and Deputy Superintendent of Police, G.M. Bhat.

During the visit, the IGP reviewed traffic arrangements at key locations and stressed the need to streamline traffic movement in congested areas through a participative and people-friendly approach. He appreciated the recent measures taken by the Traffic Police to improve traffic mobility and discussed additional steps to reduce congestion across the downtown area.

The IGP directed officers to maintain a visible presence on the roads and provide necessary assistance to the public, particularly in market areas and around places of religious importance. He also instructed officials to remove encroachments affecting the smooth flow of traffic.

Emphasising coordinated efforts, Salaria asked officers to engage all stakeholders to ensure sustainable improvements in traffic management across Downtown Srinagar.

During the tour, he also inspected locations where one-way traffic regulations have recently been introduced to assess their impact on traffic flow.

Several members of the public interacted with the IGP during the visit and appreciated the efforts being made by the Traffic Police to improve traffic management in the area.
