Kashmir, July 10: Five pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra were injured after their vehicle met with an accident near Toldi Nallah in the Samroli area along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on Friday.
The pilgrims were travelling in an Ertiga car as part of a convoy that had departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for Pahalgam when the vehicle reportedly went out of control and crashed into a retaining wall on the highway.
Personnel from the CRPF’s 137 Battalion, Gorkha 4/3, Civil Defence, Traffic Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police rushed to the scene and rescued the occupants. The injured pilgrims were shifted to the Associated Hospital, Government Medical College, Udhampur, where they are undergoing treatment.
Officials said one of the injured pilgrims, identified as Seema Gupta, sustained serious injuries in the accident. Further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, security and medical arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 continue along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is maintaining Road Opening Party (ROP) operations to ensure the safe movement of pilgrim convoys.
The CRPF’s 84 Battalion has also established a Mobile Health Camp at Chanderkote in Ramban district to provide round-the-clock medical assistance to pilgrims and local residents. The facility, functioning under the supervision of Commandant N. Ranbir Singh, is staffed by Senior Medical Officer Dr. Anantha Krishnan and paramedical personnel equipped with an Advanced Life Support ambulance and emergency medicines.
Pilgrims from different parts of the country have appreciated the security arrangements and healthcare facilities being provided during the yatra.
