Washington: The United States military has announced that it carried out a new wave of offensive airstrikes against Iran, targeting dozens of locations it says were being used to support attacks on international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the US military, the strikes were aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial vessels passing through one of the world’s busiest and most important oil shipping routes.
The operation comes amid rising tensions in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a key global trade corridor through which a significant share of the world’s oil supplies is transported.
