Gurez, Bandipora, July 6: A 10-year-old boy was swept away by the currents of the Kishanganga River while taking a bath in the Sheikhpora area of Tulail in Gurez Valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday. A search operation is underway to trace the missing child.
The boy has been identified as Babar Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Sheikhpora, Tulail.According to officials, the incident occurred when the boy was bathing in the river and lost his balance before being carried away by the water. Police, the Indian Army, and local volunteers immediately launched a search operation after receiving information about the incident.
Officials said the search operation continued despite difficult conditions, with rescue teams facing challenges due to the river’s current and reduced visibility after sunset.
The operation is being supervised by SDPO Gurez Manzoor Ahmad Malik and SHO Tulail Mohammad Shafi, who are coordinating the efforts of police personnel, Army troops, and local volunteers.
Officials said all available resources have been deployed, and the search operation will continue until the missing child is traced.
