Chennai, May 13: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay proved his majority in the Assembly on Wednesday as the TVK-led government comfortably won the trust vote with 144 members voting in favour.
The victory strengthens the position of the ruling government and marks a major political moment for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Supporters of the Chief Minister celebrated the result both inside and outside the Assembly.
Speaking after the vote, Vijay thanked the legislators and said his government would continue to work for the welfare and development of Tamil Nadu.
