Bandipora, May 21: MLA Bandipora, Nizamuddin Bhat, on Thursday accused the government of overlooking Bandipora district in major developmental initiatives, claiming that not a single significant project or institution has been undertaken even after two years of the present administration.
Speaking to the media, Bhat said the repeated government assurance of granting highway status to Bandipora has remained “only on paper,” leaving the district without improved connectivity or meaningful relief. He asserted that poor road infrastructure and lack of basic amenities are causing persistent hardship for residents across several areas.
Bhat said the situation in the health sector is particularly alarming, alleging that doctors often refuse to join their official postings in Bandipora, further worsening the already strained healthcare system.
He added that the district has also been deprived of major educational institutions, leaving local youth without access to better academic and career opportunities.
The legislator urged the government to prioritise Bandipora’s development, sanction essential projects, and deliver on long-pending commitments made to the people of the district.
