Bhalesa, Jammu and Kashmir, September 20: Security has been tightened in Bhalesa area of Doda district following recent terror-related developments in the Doda-Udhampur region, with the Special Operations Group (SOG) intensifying search operations and patrolling in forest and interior areas.
The move follows a joint intelligence-based operation conducted by security forces in the Brattal Sohan and Khubban forest areas of Udhampurās Majalta on September 16 and 17, during which two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed. Search and surveillance operations continued in the area following the operation.
The Doda-Udhampur-Kathua belt has remained under security watch, with forces carrying out searches and maintaining deployments across forested areas.
Earlier this month, personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF were deployed at a temporary operational base near the Doda-Kathua-Udhampur tri-junction. J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat also reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness at the location.
In another development, security forces recovered the remains of a suspected Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist along with an M4 carbine from the upper reaches of the Seoj Dhar forest area in Doda. The area connects Bhaderwah with Udhampur and Kathua districts.
Following these developments, SOG Doda-Gandoh has intensified area domination, search operations and patrolling in Bhalesa. Security personnel are maintaining surveillance in interior and forest areas and monitoring movement to prevent any possible security threat.
