New Delhi, June 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday departed for a multi-nation visit to France and Slovakia, during which he will participate in the G7 Summit, hold high-level bilateral meetings, and attend major innovation and technology events.
The visit begins in France, where Prime Minister Modi will meet French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice on June 15. The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of India-France relations, which were recently elevated to a Special Global Strategic Partnership. They will also jointly inaugurate the “Bharat Innovates” event, bringing together leading startups and venture capital firms from India, France and other countries as part of the India-France Year of Innovation.
From June 14 to 16, Prime Minister Modi will undertake a State Visit to Slovakia at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico. The visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993. During the visit, Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Fico and meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini to explore opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, automobile manufacturing and railway infrastructure.
Prime Minister Modi will then return to France to participate in the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16-17. The summit will focus on strengthening international partnerships, promoting sustainable economic growth and advancing the safe and efficient deployment of artificial intelligence. On the sidelines of the summit, Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders.
In the final leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will travel to Paris on June 18 to attend the VivaTech Summit, Europe’s largest technology and startup gathering. He is also expected to address members of the Indian diaspora in the French capital.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit is aimed at deepening India’s strategic partnerships with France, Slovakia and the G7 nations, while showcasing India’s growing role in innovation, digital transformation and global economic cooperation. The visit is also expected to strengthen India’s engagement with the European Union and reinforce its position as a leading voice of the Global South.
