Bandipora, July 14: Residents of Kudara have raised concerns over the ongoing macadamization of the Kudara road, alleging that the thickness and quality of the road surface do not meet the required standards. Locals claimed that the work carried out over the past few days has not been executed as expected and urged the concerned authorities to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the prescribed specifications.
Responding to the concerns, the Executive Engineer, PMGSY, said there would be no compromise on the quality of the project and assured that any deficiencies identified during inspection would be rectified without delay.
The Executive Engineer said the project is also facing challenges due to the existing PHE pipeline running parallel to the road. He stated that if the pipeline is shifted, an additional expenditure of around ₹77 lakh will be required. After the pipeline is relocated, the department will be able to construct a proper drainage system along the roadside to ensure smooth flow of water and facilitate completion of the project.
He further alleged that at several locations along the Kudara road, parts of the road alignment have been encroached upon by some locals, preventing the department from laying drainage pipes required to channel water flowing from the upper side. According to him, the matter has been taken up with the district administration to seek permission for the removal of the encroachments so that the drainage infrastructure can be installed.
Appealing to the public, the Executive Engineer (PMGSY) urged the residents of Kudara to cooperate with the department in completing the project. He reiterated that all genuine concerns regarding the macadamization work would be addressed and assured that the identified shortcomings would be rectified in the coming days.
