Bathinda, Punjab, September 3: The Bathinda Court Complex and Zila Parishad office received bomb threat emails on Thursday, prompting security checks at the premises and nearby government offices.
Superintendent of Police Ashwant Singh said an email threatening both offices was received around 1 pm. Following the alert, security was increased at the Court Complex, Zila Parishad and Municipal Corporation offices.
Bomb disposal and police teams conducted anti-sabotage checks at all three locations. No explosive material or suspicious object was found during the searches.
The SP said the threat emails were found to be fake and that routine work at the three buildings was continuing.
Police said a case would be registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station and an investigation launched to identify the sender of the emails. According to the SP, similar threat emails had been received earlier and some were sent through foreign servers.
The police appealed to the public not to panic and urged anyone receiving a similar threatening email or message to immediately inform Bathinda Police so that it could be verified.
