New Delhi, September 14: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted citizens on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and prayed for peace, prosperity and progress in the country.
In her message, President Murmu said Lord Ganesha symbolises wisdom, prosperity and auspicious beginnings. She said the festival inspires people to move forward with new resolutions and contribute to nation-building.
She prayed for happiness, peace, good health and prosperity for all and urged citizens to dedicate themselves to the progress of the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended greetings to citizens and prayed that Lord Ganesha, regarded as the remover of obstacles, brings new energy and enthusiasm into people’s lives.”
Heartfelt Ganesh Chaturthi wishes to all my fellow citizens. May this sacred festival of darshan and worship of the remover of obstacles infuse new energy and fresh enthusiasm into everyone’s lives,” Modi said in a post on X.
He also prayed for the success of people’s endeavours and the continued progress of the nation. The Prime Minister shared verses from the Ganesha Pancharatnam stotram along with his message.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also greeted citizens on the occasion. He recalled the role of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak in connecting Ganeshotsav with the masses during the freedom movement.
Kharge said the festival became a means of promoting unity and public awareness during the freedom struggle and called for its message of unity, harmony and brotherhood to continue.
Ganesh Chaturthi, marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, is being observed across the country with prayers, community celebrations and processions.
