Jaipur, September 16: Repolling is underway at five polling booths in Jaipur on Wednesday following technical issues with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) reported during the counting of votes in the Rajasthan Urban Local Body Elections-2026.

Repolling is being held at Booth No. 111 of Ward No. 9, Booth No. 235 of Ward No. 18, Booth No. 343 of Ward No. 25, and Booth Nos. 477 and 484 of Ward No. 34 under the Jaipur Municipal Corporation.

Voting at the affected polling centres will continue until 6 pm. New ballot papers are being used, while fresh indelible ink is being applied to voters’ middle finger of the left hand, irrespective of the ink mark from the earlier polling.

The counting of votes from these booths will be held on September 17 from 8 am after completion of the repolling process.

The State Election Commission ordered repolling at selected booths in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Suket after receiving reports of technical problems with EVMs during counting. According to the commission, the number of votes that could not be displayed due to the technical issues was higher than the margin between the nearest candidates at the affected polling centres.

In Jaipur, District Collector Sandesh Nayak said EVM results could not be retrieved from Booth No. 111 in Ward 9, Booth No. 235 in Ward 18, Booth No. 343 in Ward 25, and Booth Nos. 477 and 484 in Ward 34.

The results of 146 of the 150 wards of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation have been declared. The BJP has won 78 wards, Congress 53 and independents 15. The outcome in the remaining four wards will be determined after the repolling.

Across 309 civic bodies in Rajasthan, the BJP secured 37,35,567 votes, while the Congress received 36,35,952 votes, according to the election results. The difference between the two parties was 99,615 votes.
