Sopore, September 21: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party youth leader Mohammad Iqbal criticised the detention of the party’s provincial president Mohammad Ashraf Mir and other party leaders and workers during a protest over issues concerning unemployed youth, reservation policy and common people.
Iqbal said the party had raised concerns regarding unemployment, seeking a fair and transparent reservation policy and resolution of issues faced by the public. He said the government should address such concerns through dialogue instead of detaining political leaders and workers.
He said peaceful expression of public and political concerns was part of the democratic process and that detention did not address the issues being raised.
Iqbal said the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party would continue to raise issues concerning unemployed youth and the public.
