Anantnag, June 5: As part of its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police on Thursday conducted extensive anti-narcotics raids at several hotels in the Pahalgam sub-division.
The operation was carried out in the Mavoora, Rafting Point and Yanner areas by six police teams under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Pahalgam.
According to police officials, multiple hotel premises were searched following credible inputs to ensure that tourist accommodations are not misused for narcotics-related activities. The raids were aimed at strengthening surveillance and disrupting any potential drug networks operating in the area.
Police said the initiative forms part of a sustained effort to maintain a drug-free environment and curb the spread of narcotics across the district. Officials reiterated their commitment to continuing such proactive operations to prevent drug abuse and trafficking.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, security forces have intensified search operations in the Gambhir Mughlan forest area of the Manjakote sector in Rajouri district, where an anti-terror operation is currently underway.
The operation, code-named Operation Sheruwali, is being conducted jointly by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of suspected terrorists in the area.
Security forces have strengthened the cordon around the region to prevent the militants from escaping while search teams continue combing the dense forest terrain. Officials said the challenging topography and thick vegetation have made the operation complex, requiring troops to proceed with caution while maintaining round-the-clock surveillance.
The joint forces are utilizing all available resources to track the movement of the suspected terrorists and neutralize any threat posed in the region. The operation remains in progress.
