New Delhi, October 1: The Union Cabinet has approved the third phase of the Green Energy Corridor, with an estimated investment of ₹1.8 lakh crore, to strengthen the transmission infrastructure required for integrating renewable energy into the national power grid.
The project will involve the expansion and strengthening of transmission networks in areas with high renewable energy potential. The infrastructure is intended to facilitate the evacuation of electricity generated from renewable sources and its transfer to demand centres.
The third phase is part of the government’s efforts to expand the country’s renewable energy capacity and improve grid connectivity.
The upgraded transmission system is expected to support the integration of additional renewable power while strengthening the overall electricity transmission network.
