New Delhi, July 23: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Thursday alleged that people were being brought from outside to disrupt the ongoing student protest and accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers of pelting stones to defame the agitation.
Addressing reporters, CJP representative Abhijeet Dipke said the protest had continued for a month without any such incidents, but claimed the situation changed after the movement gained momentum.”We have been sitting here for a month. No such incident occurred earlier. Now people are being brought from outside to disrupt the protest,” Dipke alleged.
He further claimed that BJP workers were involved in stone-pelting and alleged that police facilitated their actions. Dipke also accused the police of using force against protesters and said the party would pursue legal action against the officers involved.
According to Dipke, the protest entered its 34th day on Thursday, while activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike continued for the 26th day. He said the agitation would continue until the protesters’ demands were met, but appealed to Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, citing concerns over his health.
Meanwhile, CJP leader Saurav Das said the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remained a key demand of the protesters and described it as non-negotiable.
Das said he had spoken to Sonam Wangchuk several times during the day and that both agreed the protest should remain peaceful. He also alleged that anti-social elements had been attempting to infiltrate the agitation to disrupt it and shift blame onto peaceful protesters.
Responding to the controversy over the NEET-UG paper leak, Union Health Minister and Rajya Sabha Leader of the House J.P. Nadda on Wednesday said the issue should not be politicised. He stated that the government was prepared to discuss all aspects of the matter in Parliament, adding that paper leaks were a serious issue requiring detailed discussion.
