Bandipora, Kashmir, June 14: A cycle rally aimed at promoting awareness against drug abuse and encouraging sports activities among children was organised on Sunday in Bandipora under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The rally was organised by journalist Inam-ul-Haq (Inam Khan) and saw the participation of around 30 children aged between 8 and 14 years. The programme was conducted to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction and to encourage children to adopt healthy lifestyles through sports and outdoor activities.

The rally was flagged off by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora, Nazir Ahmad, from Quil and concluded at Onagam after covering a distance of approximately three kilometres.

Arrangements including drinking water facilities, medical assistance, refreshments and safety measures were put in place for the participants. Around 30 volunteers were deployed to manage traffic, regulate the movement of participants and ensure the safety of the children during the event.

The programme received support from the district administration and police authorities. A police team from Police Post Aloosa monitored the rally from Quil to Onagam to ensure its smooth conduct.

At the conclusion of the rally, the participants were felicitated by the SHO Bandipora, who appreciated the children for taking part in the programme and encouraged them to remain involved in sports and other constructive activities.

Speaking on the occasion, organiser Inam Khan thanked the district administration and police authorities for their cooperation. He also expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora and the DO Aloosa for extending support in the successful conduct of the rally.

The event concluded with a message promoting a drug-free society and encouraging children to participate in sports and positive community activities.
