New Delhi, Aug. 2: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) activist Abhijeet Dipke on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct police authorities to withdraw criminal cases registered against students who participated in recent protests.

Speaking to ANI, Dipke said that social media messages of forgiveness were not enough if legal action against the students continued. He appealed to the Prime Minister to ensure that all cases filed against the protesters were withdrawn.

“Don’t just offer forgiveness on Instagram; direct the police to withdraw the cases as well. Withdraw the cases filed against these students,” Dipke said.

The appeal comes amid ongoing discussions over the handling of recent student protests, with demands from some groups for leniency toward those who took part in the demonstrations.
