Gaza, Aug. 3: Israel intensified its military campaign across the Gaza Strip on Monday, carrying out a fresh wave of airstrikes despite renewed efforts by former US President Donald Trump to promote a peace plan aimed at ending the months-long conflict. The latest escalation has further weakened hopes for an immediate ceasefire as violence continues to claim lives and deepen the humanitarian crisis.

According to Palestinian officials, the strikes targeted several areas across Gaza, leaving dozens of people dead or injured, including women and children.

Emergency workers rushed to rescue survivors trapped beneath collapsed buildings, while hospitals, already operating under severe shortages of medical supplies, struggled to treat the growing number of casualties.

The Israeli military said its operations were directed at Hamas targets, maintaining that the campaign is aimed at dismantling the group’s military infrastructure. However, humanitarian agencies have repeatedly warned that continued bombardment in densely populated areas is causing heavy civilian losses and worsening living conditions for Gaza’s residents.

The renewed offensive comes amid international diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and facilitate the release of hostages. Trump’s proposed peace initiative has called for an end to hostilities and negotiations between the parties, but the latest military escalation has cast fresh doubt over the prospects of an early breakthrough.

The United Nations and several world leaders have urged all sides to exercise restraint, protect civilians, and allow uninterrupted humanitarian aid into Gaza. With fighting continuing across the territory, fears are growing that the conflict could trigger an even deeper humanitarian emergency and further destabilize the region.
