Chandigarh, October 2: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Punjab has reached 99.21 per cent completion, Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra said.
The exercise has been completed in eight districts—Moga, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mansa, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Sangrur, Patiala and Malerkotla—and in 55 of the state’s 117 Assembly constituencies.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will contact electors whose cases involve pending notices, hearings or document submissions. Where required, BLOs will collect the documents directly from electors instead of requiring them to visit Electoral Registration Officer offices.
Special camps are also being held in constituencies where work remains pending, while help desks have been established at District Election Officer and Electoral Registration Officer offices to assist voters with queries related to the electoral rolls. The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on October 12.
