New Delhi: Delhi Minister Sood on Sunday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, saying that the remarks made by its own MLA, Sukhveer Maiserkhana, had exposed the reality behind the government’s claims of good governance.
The controversy began after AAP MLA Sukhveer Maiserkhana raised concerns over the shortage of teachers in government schools, including a School of Eminence where his children study. He reportedly said that despite raising the issue with senior party leaders and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, no proper action had been taken.
Reacting to the MLA’s remarks, Minister Sood said the incident had exposed the gap between the Punjab government’s claims and the situation on the ground. The issue has triggered a fresh political debate over the AAP government’s performance, particularly in the education sector. The opposition has questioned the government’s claims of improving public services and providing quality education.
The controversy has also raised questions about the handling of complaints within the ruling party, as the MLA was suspended from the party’s primary membership over alleged indiscipline and anti-party activities. The Punjab government, however, has maintained that most of the teaching posts at the school have been filled, rejecting claims of widespread staff shortages.
