Bandipora, August 21, 2026: Bandipora Police seized three tractors and a tipper for their alleged involvement in illegal mining and unauthorised transportation of mining material at different locations in the district.
The action was carried out following specific inputs regarding illegal extraction and transportation of mining material within the jurisdictions of Police Station Pethkote, Police Post Ajas and Police Post Aloosa.
Police teams conducted checks at identified locations and intercepted the vehicles allegedly involved in the activity.
Police have taken cognisance under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police have urged people to refrain from illegal mining and unauthorised transportation of mining material and to report such activities to the nearest police station or through designated helpline numbers.
