Islamabad, August 21: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was transferred back to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Friday after undergoing a medical evaluation at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad, Dawn reported.

The transfer was carried out under security arrangements following directions issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan earlier this week. Khan was taken to the hospital through Pitras Bukhari Road and entered the facility through Gate No. 1.

Authorities had sealed Pitras Bukhari Road and Service Road South to civilian traffic and deployed more than 800 personnel from Islamabad Capital Territory Police, the city administration and Rangers around the hospital.

Police and jail officials coordinated the movement and security arrangements during Khan’s visit.

The Supreme Court had directed the federal government to shift Khan to a private medical facility within two days for a health assessment. The former prime minister, who has been in jail since 2023, is serving a 14-year sentence in the Toshakhana case.

Khan was taken for medical evaluation after prison medical records indicated fluctuations in his blood pressure and related symptoms. Following the scheduled examinations and preliminary tests, he was taken back to Adiala Jail before daybreak.
