Srinagar, May 8, 2026: In a major administrative move aimed at strengthening academic infrastructure in the remote Gurez Valley, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has ordered the transfer of 27 Higher Secondary lecturers from various institutions across the Valley.
The decision, issued through Order No. 192-DSEK of 2026, follows approval from the competent authority and takes immediate effect. According to officials, a significant number of lecturer positions in Gurez had remained vacant for a long time, affecting the academic functioning of several higher secondary schools in the region.
Under the new arrangement, lecturers from subjects including Botany, Commerce, Economics, English, Urdu, Political Science, Education, Zoology, History and Physics have been posted to institutions spread across Gurez, including HSS Dawar, HSS Kilshay, HSS Badugam, HSS Izmarag, HSS PTL and HSS Baduab.
The transfers are expected to address critical shortages and ensure continuity in teaching, especially in key science and humanities subjects. Officials say the move is part of an ongoing effort to rebalance human resources and provide equitable academic support to geographically challenging areas like Gurez.
Copies of the order have been circulated to all concerned authorities for immediate compliance.
