Says No Major Loss Reported So Far; Orders Immediate Relief for Lightning Strike Victim’s Family
Srinagar, June 2: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reviewed the situation arising from flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall in Doda and Kishtwar districts and directed the administration to remain on high alert while ensuring the prompt restoration of essential services and public infrastructure.
According to officials, the Lieutenant Governor spoke with the Deputy Commissioners of Doda and Kishtwar to assess the ground situation and issued instructions for continuous monitoring of vulnerable areas.
In a statement, LG Sinha said that no loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far due to the flash floods caused by heavy rainfall in the two districts.“Emergency response teams have been directed to remain on high alert and continuously monitor the situation,” he said, adding that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard public safety and ensure timely response to any emerging situation.
The Lieutenant Governor further directed the Deputy Commissioners to expedite the restoration of roads, highways, water supply pipelines and other essential services affected by the adverse weather conditions.“Field staff and specialised medical teams have been kept on alert, while damage assessment exercises will commence immediately after field verification is completed,” he said.
Meanwhile, LG Sinha expressed grief over the death of Pinki Devi of Khuddhar village in Doda district, who lost her life after being struck by lightning.
Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Lieutenant Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, to provide immediate relief and all necessary assistance to the affected family.
The administration, he said, remains fully prepared to deal with any eventuality and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas.
