Tehran, June 28: Iran has warned that any new military action against the country will receive a strong response, while also stating that it will regulate maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

Ibrahim al-Fiqar, the official military spokesperson of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which coordinates operations between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the regular Iranian military, made the remarks in a series of posts on X.

According to Fiqar, any violation of the existing ceasefire arrangement would result in the suspension of understandings reached under the Islamabad agreement. He stated that Iran would exercise authority over maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and would take action against vessels that violate the established regulations.

Fiqar alleged that US forces carried out strikes on five Iranian coastal sites on Saturday, describing the operation as a response to what he termed recent American attacks.

He further claimed that Iran conducted a joint missile and drone operation targeting eight US military sites and infrastructure facilities, including Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

The Kuwaiti Army said it was responding to hostile missile and drone attacks, while Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced that emergency alarm sirens had been activated.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that American forces had struck Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, along with coastal radar sites, alleging that Iran had violated the ceasefire agreement.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States had carried out the strikes in response to repeated violations of the ceasefire and warned of further military action if the situation continued to escalate.

The developments come amid renewed tensions in the region, with both sides accusing each other of violating ceasefire understandings and carrying out military actions.
