Islamabad: Pakistan’s role in the ongoing West Asia crisis has come under sharp scrutiny after reports claimed that US officials have raised serious concerns over Islamabad’s mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran.
According to international media reports, some officials in the Trump administration suspect Pakistan of “playing both sides” while presenting itself as a key peace broker in the region. The concerns reportedly stem from claims that Islamabad may have shared different versions of Iran’s position with US authorities.
The controversy intensified after fresh disclosures alleged that Iranian aircraft were allowed to use Pakistani airbases during the ongoing tensions, triggering questions over Pakistan’s neutrality in the crisis.
