New Delhi, India, June 2: Six people were injured after a single-storey house collapsed following an LPG cylinder explosion in North Delhi’s Mukundpur area on Tuesday, officials said.
According to Delhi Police, the injured were shifted for medical examination and treatment, while their exact condition was yet to be confirmed at the time of filing this report. The building, where the incident occurred, was reportedly being used for utensil polishing work.
Station House Officer (SHO) Giriraj said the blast caused the collapse of a single-storey structure spread over approximately 250 square yards. Search and rescue operations were immediately launched to ensure no one remained trapped under the debris.
The Delhi Fire Service stated that it received information about the house collapse following the LPG cylinder explosion and promptly deployed rescue teams to the spot. Emergency personnel continued search operations as a precautionary measure.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the blast, while further details are awaited.In a separate incident earlier in the day, at least four people were injured in a cylinder blast at Ajit Nagar in East Delhi’s Shahdara area.
Shahdara Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajendra Prasad Meena said the incident occurred around 1:30 pm. Following information about a fire at a residential building, Head Constable Rahul and Constable Kuldeep rushed to the scene and rescued several people trapped on the first floor.
The rescued individuals, including a woman, children and a man, were shifted to a hospital where they are undergoing treatment.According to police, a leaking gas cylinder pipe is suspected to have caused the explosion. An investigation into the incident is underway.
