Bandipora, Kashmir, July 6: A shortage of Naib Tehsildars at the Tehsil Office Bandipora has led to difficulties for job aspirants seeking to complete mandatory formalities for the recruitment of Anganwadi Workers (AWW) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWH), with the last date for submission of application forms scheduled for Tuesday.
Applicants said Bandipora Tehsil has five Nayabats, but only three Naib Tehsildars are currently posted, as two positions remain vacant. Of the three serving officers, two have been deputed for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra duty, while the third was attending proceedings at the High Court on Monday, leaving the Nayabat section without a Naib Tehsildar for the day.
The absence of the designated officer resulted in delays in the processing and verification of documents, causing inconvenience to applicants who have been visiting the tehsil office to complete the required formalities before the deadline.
Several aspirants questioned why the vacant Naib Tehsildar posts have not been filled despite Bandipora Tehsil being the district’s main revenue office. They said recurring staff shortages continue to affect public services and asked how long the district would have to face such situations. They also questioned when the vacant posts would finally be filled.
The applicants questioned why key posts at the Tehsil Office have been left vacant, saying the shortage of officials has directly affected candidates at a crucial stage of the recruitment process. They said that if the Naib Tehsildar of Khayar was deputed for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra duty, alternative arrangements should have been made to ensure that public services at the Tehsil Office were not affected. With the last date for submission of application forms falling on Tuesday, many candidates said they were uncertain about completing the mandatory formalities.
“Why are these posts lying vacant, and why is our future being put at risk due to administrative shortcomings?” the applicants said, urging the district administration to immediately fill the vacant Naib Tehsildar posts and ensure that substitute officials are posted whenever officers are deputed for other assignments so that essential public services continue without disruption.
When the matter was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, she said, “I will look into the matter.”
