Washington, DC, May 10: US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning over Iran’s nuclear facilities, asserting that the United States is maintaining strict surveillance of the Islamic Republic’s enriched uranium stockpiles and will launch immediate military action against any attempt to approach or breach them.
In an interview with independent journalist Sharyl Attkisson, aired Sunday, Trump said the US military is fully prepared to neutralise any perceived threat to the stockpiles.
“We have it surveilled. I created Space Force, and they are watching that… If anybody got near the place, we’ll know about it, and we’ll blow them up,” he said.
Emphasising the capability of American intelligence systems, Trump claimed the Space Force could identify anyone attempting to infiltrate the facilities with exceptional precision.
“If somebody walked in, they can tell you his name, address, his badge number,” he asserted.
Turning to the broader conflict, Trump described Iran as “militarily defeated,” alleging that the country’s defence and offensive infrastructure has been dismantled.
“They have no navy, no air force, no anti-aircraft weaponry, no leaders,” he said, adding that while Tehran continues to deliberate on diplomatic options, its military apparatus “is in ruins.” According to him, if hostilities ceased today, Iran would need “20 years to rebuild.”
When asked whether US combat operations in the region are nearing an end, the President said Washington may still pursue further action. He claimed that roughly 70 percent of intended targets have already been destroyed.
“We could go in for two more weeks,” Trump said, describing any additional action as “final touches.” He added that even without further strikes, Iran has effectively been pushed back by two decades.
Reasserting his firm stance against Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump stressed that the international community cannot allow what he called the “crazy” regime in Tehran to acquire nuclear weapons. He also defended his decision to withdraw from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), arguing that Iran would have posed a nuclear threat to Israel and the wider Middle East had the agreement remained in place.
Trump’s remarks mark one of his most forceful statements in recent months, underscoring escalating tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security.
