New Delhi, May 15: Oil marketing companies on Friday announced a fresh increase in petrol and diesel prices across the country, raising fuel rates by ₹3 per litre under the latest price revision.

Following the hike, petrol prices increased from ₹94.77 per litre to ₹97.77 per litre, while diesel rates also witnessed a similar upward revision. The new prices came into effect immediately, officials said.

The latest increase is expected to have a direct impact on transportation costs, public commuting expenses, and prices of essential commodities dependent on road transport. Commuters and transport operators have expressed concern over the rising fuel costs, stating that repeated hikes are putting additional financial pressure on the public.

Officials said the revision was linked to fluctuations in international crude oil prices and changes in global market conditions. Fuel prices are revised periodically by oil companies based on import costs, exchange rates, and other market-related factors.

The hike comes amid continued volatility in the global energy market, with experts warning that further changes in international crude prices could influence domestic fuel rates in the coming weeks.
