New Delhi, August 17: The newly constituted national team of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by party president Nitin Nabin, is likely to hold its first meeting on the morning of August 22, according to party sources.
The new team was announced on Monday, nearly six months after Nitin Nabin took charge as BJP president. The team includes new faces as well as several leaders who held positions in the previous organisational setup.
B.L. Santosh will continue as General Secretary (Organisation), while former Amethi MP Smriti Irani has been appointed General Secretary. Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde, Gajendra Patel, Satish Poonia, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia have also been appointed as general secretaries.
The party has appointed 13 national vice presidents, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D. Purandeswari, Rekha Verma, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, Prof. M. Nagaraja, Prof. Tariq Mansoor and Madhuchanda Kar. Six of the 13 vice presidents are women.Kavita Patidar, K. Surendran, Dr. Bhola Singh, Pradip Varma, Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, Sandeep Pathak, Phangnon Konyak, Sangeeta Yadav, Anil Antony, M. Venkateshan, Manoj Tigga, Siddharth Shambhu, Swadesh Singh, Mriganka Deo Barman, Rohan Gupta and Jai Prakash have been appointed national secretaries.
Piyush Goyal will continue as the party’s National Treasurer, while Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh has been appointed Central Office In-charge. Gujarat MP Hemang Joshi will head the Yuva Morcha and Roopkumari Choudhary of Chhattisgarh will oversee the Mahila Morcha.
Lok Sabha MP Anil Baluni will continue as Media Convenor. Ashish Usha Agrawal, Pradeep Bhandari and Siddharth Yadav have been appointed co-convenors, while Deepak Mhaskey has been named Social Media Convenor.
The new national team will oversee the party’s organisational activities and preparations for the assembly elections scheduled in 2027, including the Uttar Pradesh polls. The organisational changes are also being viewed in the context of the BJP’s preparations for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
