Srinagar, Aug. 5: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said he had not witnessed any major protests on the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, stating that peace and normalcy continue to improve across the Union Territory.
Speaking at a government function, the Lieutenant Governor distributed appointment letters to the next of kin of people who lost their lives in terrorist attacks. He said the administration is committed to supporting families affected by terrorism and ensuring they receive employment opportunities and government assistance.
Sinha said the government remains focused on rehabilitation, development and strengthening peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that providing jobs to the families of terror victims is part of the administration’s efforts to help them rebuild their lives with dignity.The event coincided with the seventh anniversary of the Centre’s decision to revoke Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
While several political parties observed the day with protests and demonstrations demanding the restoration of statehood and special status, the Lieutenant Governor maintained that no significant public protests were seen across the region.
