Dhaka, 06 August: Bangladesh on Thursday strongly criticised former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over her recent press conference in New Delhi, saying she no longer has any place in the country’s political landscape.
In an official response, the government accused Hasina of attempting to revive a political narrative that had already been rejected by the people. It said her remarks were against Bangladesh’s sovereignty, democratic process, and national interests.
Dhaka also warned that political activities carried out from Indian soil could have a negative impact on bilateral relations with New Delhi, stressing the importance of respecting each other’s internal affairs.
Hasina, who has been living in India since her removal from office in 2024, used the press conference to defend her political record and announced that she intends to return to Bangladesh in December 2026 despite facing multiple legal cases.
The latest war of words has further heightened diplomatic and political tensions between Bangladesh and India, with the issue expected to remain a key point in relations between the two neighbouring countries.
