Srinagar, August 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has suspended two officials of the District Treasury Bandipora after an inspection found that several bills had been retained beyond the permissible period, causing delays in the release of final payments.
According to an order issued by Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Ahtisham Ul Haq, Accountant, and Mohammad Sofi, Accounts Assistant, were placed under suspension following an inspection of the treasury conducted on August 22.
The inspection found that several bills had not been processed for final payment and were retained in the treasury beyond the prescribed limits. The department stated that the retention resulted in unauthorised delays in the release of final payments.
During the suspension period, both officials will remain attached to the Office of the Director, Accounts and Treasuries, Kashmir.
The order further stated that the officials will be entitled to subsistence allowance as admissible under the applicable rules during the period of suspension.
