Srinagar, August 22: An awareness programme was organised at Green Valley Higher Secondary School, Illahi Bagh, Srinagar, where students and teachers were sensitised about physical fitness, sports activities and the need for changes in the functioning and curriculum of schools to promote a balanced and comprehensive education system.
The programme brought together speakers from administration, healthcare, sports, engineering and media, who shared their experiences and discussed issues affecting students and the school system.
The speakers highlighted the importance of physical activity, healthy routines and addressing individual shortcomings without affecting academic progress.
The students were also apprised of ways to overcome their deficiencies and maintain progress in their studies and personal development. The speakers discussed areas requiring attention in the existing school system and outlined measures for creating an environment that supports education along with physical and other developmental activities.
The speakers included Mr Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police; Dr Shariq Masoodi, Endocrinologist; Dr Naveed, Pulmonologist; Dr Ishfaq Ahmad, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist; Mr Azhar Hajini from Doordarshan; and Mr Farhan, Engineer.
The speakers interacted with the students and responded to their queries on health, fitness, education, career development and other issues in an interactive session.
