New Delhi: National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has welcomed the Supreme Court taking notice of concerns related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Reacting to the court’s scrutiny of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Abdullah said he was happy that the Supreme Court had taken up the matter. He backed the judicial examination of the issue and stressed the importance of protecting the electoral process.
The remarks come amid political concerns over the ongoing SIR exercise, with opposition parties raising questions about its implementation and its possible impact on voters.
Abdullah said matters connected with elections should be handled carefully to ensure that genuine voters are not affected.
