Srinagar, July 8: A terrorist affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in a joint anti-terror operation carried out by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian on Tuesday.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the operation was conducted jointly by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police, the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). One LeT terrorist was neutralised during the operation.
The encounter was part of an ongoing counter-terror operation launched after security forces received specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area. Search operations are continuing to ensure that no other militants remain in the locality.
J&K Police confirmed the development in a post on X, stating that one Lashkar terrorist had been neutralised in the joint operation involving the SOG, RR, and CRPF.
