Jewar, Noida, June 15: IndiGo on Monday became the first airline to commence flight operations from the newly inaugurated Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh.

The airline’s first flight arrived at the airport from Lucknow, while the inaugural departure was operated to Bengaluru. With the launch of services from NIA, IndiGo has expanded its presence in the National Capital Region and will connect the airport with more than 16 destinations across the country.

According to the airline, the new operations will also facilitate one-stop connectivity on 14 city pairs, including Amritsar–Jodhpur, Bareilly–Bhopal, Bareilly–Jaipur, Bareilly–Jodhpur, Dharamshala–Jodhpur, Chandigarh–Bareilly, Chandigarh–Kishangarh, Chandigarh–Pantnagar, Jammu–Jodhpur, Jaipur–Dharamshala, Jaipur–Pantnagar, Kishangarh–Bhopal, Pantnagar–Jaipur and Pantnagar–Jodhpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Aloke Singh said the opening of Noida International Airport marks an important development for the aviation sector and strengthens connectivity for passengers in western Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region.

Christoph Schnellmann said IndiGo’s operations mark the beginning of commercial services at the airport and will provide passengers with additional travel options while supporting aviation, trade and tourism in the region.

Located along the Yamuna Expressway, Noida International Airport is expected to serve as an aviation and logistics hub for the region. With the addition of NIA, IndiGo now operates from all three airports in the National Capital Region, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, Hindon Airport and Noida International Airport.
