Bandipora, August 8: Police have arrested two persons and allegedly recovered a charas-like substance from their possession during a routine patrol in Badwan area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Officials said a police team led by Gurez Police Station SHO Nazir Ahmad was on patrol when they noticed two persons acting suspiciously. The duo allegedly tried to escape after seeing the police, but police caught them nearby.The arrested persons have been identified as Asif Ahmad Lone, son of Mohd Sultan Lone, a resident of Wanpora Gurez, and Mohsin Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohideen Khan, a resident of Chack Arsalan Khan, Bandipora.
According to officials, their personal search was conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and witnesses. During the search, packets containing a suspected charas-like substance were allegedly recovered.
Police have registered FIR No. 12/2026 under Sections 18 and 20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Gurez. Further investigation is underway.
