Bandipora, May 25: A massive public turnout was witnessed in Bandipora on Monday during a mega padyatra organised under the ongoing “100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan” aimed at spreading awareness against drug abuse.
Lieutenant Governor led the anti-drug march at SK Stadium Bandipora and was warmly welcomed by locals, students, youth and members of civil society.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, officials, volunteers and residents from different parts of the district. Speakers highlighted the growing threat of drug addiction and stressed the need to protect the younger generation from the menace.
Addressing the gathering, speakers described youth as the true builders of the nation and urged them to stay away from substance abuse and contribute positively towards the development of society.
The one-kilometre padyatra was organised as part of the government’s intensified campaign to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free through public awareness, youth engagement and community participation.
Officials said the “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan” is being carried out across the Union Territory with active support from the administration, police, educational institutions and local communities.
