Kolkata, July 4: Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on rebel party leaders, accusing them of betraying the party that gave them their political identity and secretly working for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing party workers, Banerjee said those who won elections on the TMC symbol with her approval are now claiming that the party no longer exists since 2023.
She said their election nominations were accepted only after she signed the required documents.”There is a limit to betrayal. You have betrayed the very party that gave you a political identity. If you have the courage, go and formally join the BJP,” Banerjee said.
She also rejected suggestions that the party symbol could be taken away, saying she would continue to take the symbol to the people and no one could silence her voice. Banerjee expressed confidence that the Trinamool Congress would remain strong despite the actions of rebel leaders.
