Sumbal, Bandipora, Kashmir, June 24: In a significant move against narcotics-related activities, Sumbal Police on Wednesday attached immovable properties belonging to two individuals allegedly involved in multiple cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to police officials, a total of 4 Kanal and 8 Marlas of land belonging to Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Rakhi Shilvat, Sumbal, was attached under the provisions of Section 68F(2) of the NDPS Act.

The attached property comprises land falling under Survey No. 854 measuring 3 Kanal and Survey No. 1076 measuring 1 Kanal and 8 Marlas. Farooq Ahmad Mir is allegedly involved in FIR No. 162/2024 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Sumbal and FIR No. 23/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Pulwama.

In another action, Sumbal Police executed a confirmation order under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA) and attached a double-storey residential house belonging to Mohammad Asif Wagay alias Yalgaar, son of Ghulam Rasool Wagay, a resident of Nesbal Hilalabad.

Police said that Mohammad Asif Wagay is allegedly involved in several NDPS-related cases, including FIR No. 27/2016 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kheer Bhawani, FIR No. 05/2020 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Ganderbal, and FIR No. 47/2021 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sumbal.

The attachment of the residential property was also carried out under Section 68F(2) of the NDPS Act.

Police stated that the action forms part of their continued efforts to dismantle the financial networks of individuals involved in the illegal narcotics trade and to curb drug trafficking in the region. Officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and warned that strict legal action will continue against those found involved in narcotics-related offences.
